CHARLOTTE CONVENTION CENTER

Client: Charlotte Convention Center
Location: Charlotte, NC
Completion Year: 2025

The Turf Commander recently completed an extensive project at the Charlotte Convention Center, focusing on revitalizing the outdoor landscape. The primary challenge was the removal of 30-year-old trees that had become severely overgrown, with roots and branches encroaching upon the metal grates surrounding them. This overgrowth posed both a safety concern and a maintenance headache, as it impeded proper drainage and created an untidy appearance.

After carefully removing the aging trees, The Turf Commander team undertook a thorough cleanup of the surrounding area, which included clearing out embedded rocks and debris that had accumulated over the years. This preparation was critical to set the stage for the next phase of the project, ensuring a clean and stable foundation for new landscaping elements to be installed.

To replace the removed trees, the team introduced 2.25-ton graffiti-proof planters designed to be highly durable and resistant to vandalism, ensuring longevity and easy maintenance in a public space. These planters serve as a modern, attractive solution that complements the Convention Center’s architecture while providing greenery without the complications associated with natural tree roots or overgrowth.

In addition to the planters, The Turf Commander implemented a desert scape design that offers a low-maintenance, drought-resistant environment conducive to the local climate. This approach not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the Convention Center grounds but also addresses practical concerns such as water conservation and ease of upkeep. The project reflects The Turf Commander’s commitment to blending functionality with lasting beauty in commercial landscape management.
